Lichfield Squash Club News - September 2025

Dear Members

As the evenings draw in, there is lots happening at Lichfield Squash Club this Autumn. Here are the key updates and opportunities we would like to share with you:

Court Price Increase

Please note that from 1st October, our court hire rates will be updated to:

  • Peak: £10.50
  • Off peak: £6.50

This increase is due to the school increasing the hire fee charged to the Club by £0.50, and whilst any increase is not the best news, we have benfitted from the current rates now for 2 years, so some form of increase was always inevitable due to inflationary pressures.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Membership Renewals

It has been pleasing to see memberships grow impressively once again this year, building on the successes of previous years since we resumed post Covid. Thanks to everyone for your continued support of the Club and welcome to all new members!

Membership renewals are due for everyone from 1st October and we will be writing to you separately to explain the process, which will mirror previous years.

Annual membership fees will be kept at current levels, £25 for adults and £5 for juniors/students.

We will once again be offering a £10 rebate for all renewing full adult members, along with pro rata rebates for new members who joined part way through the current year. All rebates will be paid using MyCourts credit, which can then be used to book courts or events.

By renewing, you will ensure continued access to discounted court rates, priority booking, club events and the chance to represent the club in teams and competitions. Look out for your renewal instructions very soon.

Junior Squash Opportunities

We are keen to grow the next generation of squash players and will therefore once again be offering the following:

  • Junior Squash Academy (for high school age children)
  • Squash Stars (for primary school age children)

We are also looking to implement the new ‘Ready Set Squash’ programme designed by England Squash for delivery in a school setting. We are awaiting launch details from England Squash and will provide more information as soon as it is available. Hopefully, this will be coming to a school near you soon!

Full details of all our junior squash programmes will be made available very soon – watch this space!

If you know a young person who would like to try squash in a fun and friendly environment, get in touch.

Team Squash Update

It has been a busy but tough season for our hybrid ‘Burntfield’ team in the Staffordshire Teams Summer League. However, we have recently been boosted by the arrival of a new, high level player called Dan Harrison, who originates from Cumbria but is currently working in the area. This has strengthened us at the top of the order, allowing the players below to play more at their level. As a result, last week we almost secured our first victory of the season v Four Oaks, narrowly missing out by 2 matches to 3. We are sure our first victory will come soon.

We are looking forward to the forthcoming Winter League and hope to go back to fielding a full Lichfield team. If you are interested in being part of the team squad, please get in touch. Team squash is a fantastic opportunity to vary your squash playing and also play on the courts at other clubs. It is very sociable too!

Thanks to all players who represent Lichfield Squash Club – you’re doing us proud!
