Lichfield Squash Club News - April 2023

Hi all

It has been another busy month at the Club, with lots of further initiatives and activities to come over the next few months as well.

Memberships

Memberships continue to grow and especially since the turn of this year. Since January, we have seen 15 new players join the club. A warm welcome to:

Leagues

It has been great to finally integrate the Club Leagues to MyCourts and we are pleased things seem to be running well.

It is good to see a lot of league games being played but please remember to get your remaining games organised to play by 17th April , when the Leagues will refresh. Do not forget either the new rule awarding bonus points to those players who manage to play all available games. This can make a massive difference in terms of promotions and relegations.

Rally Together Squash and Social – Wednesday 8th March

We held a successful Rally Together event in support of International Women's Day. A group of keen women enjoyed an introductory coaching session by our professional coaches, an exhibition match, refreshments from a juice bar and the chance to get to know our women members.

A massive thanks to Julie Pickford and Tess Crabb who coordinated this event. As a result, 2 women have attended follow on sessions at our Beginner/Improver Club Night and look set the join the Club.

B2022 Fund Coaching Programmes

Following our successful application to the B2022 Fund, we have begun to plan the provision of the resultant coaching programmes, which will provide for juniors, after school at King Eddies, Beginners/Improvers and more advanced Club players.

We anticipate these programmes will be delivered across May, June and July, so look out for further details soon.

British Open Squash Championships 2023

The most historic and prestigious squash tournament of the PSA World Tour calendar, the British Open, is coming to Birmingham and will run from 9th to 16th April, with an all glass court being erected on the stage of the Birmingham Rep Theatre.

Tickets are still available to watch the action, especially for the earlier rounds, and there is even a 10% discount offer using the code WS10.

Club Celebration 2023 Event

All members are warmly welcome to come along to our Club Celebration Event being held on Wednesday 26th April , starting at 6:00pm at the courts for some free fun squash sessions, which will run until 8:00pm. Following this, a table will be booked at the The Bengal Restaurant for us to enjoy a curry, drinks and a social.

A Juice Bar will be available at the squash sessions and all attendees will receive a free Rally Together water bottle provided by England Squash. You can attend either element or both but please let us know if attending the curry so a table for the required number can be booked.

Please come along to celebrate the achievements of the Club over the past 2 years since we bounced back from Covid and look forward to more progress and success to come.
