A big couple of weeks for Lichfield Squash Club — please help us spread the word

We’re entering a major period for the club events wise, with two important events coming up in September — and we’d really appreciate your help in making both of them a success.

Both events are about more than just putting something in the diary. They’re about growing the club, encouraging new people to try squash, supporting our existing members and juniors, and continuing to build the positive community atmosphere we’ve worked so hard to create.

So our simple ask is this:

Please help us spread the word.

Share the posters, mention the events to friends, family and colleagues, encourage people to come along, and if you’re able to print a poster and display it at work or somewhere suitable, that would be fantastic.

Women’s Squash Week: Hit, Mix and Mingle

Thursday 17th September
7.00pm

Our first event is our Women’s Squash Week Hit, Mix and Mingle evening.

This is a free, friendly and informal taster session aimed at women and girls who may be new to squash, returning to sport, or simply curious to give it a go.

No experience is needed and rackets and balls will be provided. The emphasis will be on fun, confidence, meeting people and enjoying a relaxed introduction to the sport.

We’d especially like members to think about anyone they know who might enjoy the session. That could be a partner, daughter, friend, colleague, neighbour, parent from school, or someone who used to play and might be tempted back.

Even a personal nudge can make a big difference. People are far more likely to try something new if someone they know says: “You should come along, it’ll be friendly.”

Please share the poster, encourage attendance and help us make this a really positive evening.

Anyone interested can contact us through the club or simply come along on the night.

Lichfield Squash Festival 2026

Saturday 26th September

Our second major event is the Lichfield Squash Festival 2026 , which takes place on Saturday 26th September.

This is our main club and community showcase of the year, bringing together open court sessions, junior squash finals, and the finals of our Club Closed Championships.

The day will include:

Try Squash & Open Courts
10.00am–12.00pm

A free opportunity for children and adults to come along and try squash in a relaxed setting. Rackets and balls will be provided — people just need to bring non-marking trainers.

Junior Championship Finals
From 1.00pm

A chance to support our young players and celebrate the continued growth of junior squash at the club.

Club Closed Finals
From 2.00pm

Come and watch some great squash as members compete in the finals of our A, B and C grade championships.

The Festival is free to attend and open to everyone. Members, families, friends, juniors, parents, beginners, returning players and curious newcomers are all very welcome.

Again, please help us by sharing the Festival poster as widely as possible. If you can print a copy and put it up at work, in a community space, or somewhere else suitable, that would be hugely appreciated.

The morning open court sessions are especially important, as they give us a chance to introduce new people to squash and show them what a friendly, welcoming club we are.

How you can help

Please help us by:

  • sharing the event posters on social media and WhatsApp
  • encouraging friends, family, colleagues and neighbours to come along
  • printing and displaying the posters if you can
  • supporting the events in person
  • coming along to watch the Festival finals
  • helping us make new people feel welcome

We’ve made real progress as a club over the last couple of years, with more members, more juniors, more coaching and a much stronger club community.

These events are a great opportunity to keep that momentum going.

Thank you, as always, for your support. Let’s make the next couple of weeks a really positive showcase for squash in Lichfield.

Best wishes

James
