Lichfield Squash Club News - July/August 2023

Hi all

It has been almost 2 months since the last Club Newsletter, largely down to the amount of time and effort devoted to the delivery of our funded coaching programmes, Squash Start and Squash Elevate, which ran over most of June and the early part of July. More on this later …

There are also lots of other developments and initiatives to report on, so please read on to bring yourselves up to date on Club news.

1. Successful Delivery of Squash Start and Squash Elevate

We were delighted with the response to our free coaching opportunities for players of all levels, which we successfully delivered over a period of 4 weeks. These were funded by our B2022 grant award secured via Sport England with the help of Together Active.

In total, we engaged with 48 players with a wide variety of playing levels, from absolute beginners through to seasoned club players. It was particularly pleasing to see so many women players looking to take up squash.

Overall, the programmes were a great success, attracted positive feedback and have resulted in a good number of new memberships to the club. Our Monday and Tuesday Club Nights have also attracted a lot more interest and we are looking at how we can integrate regular coaching into these events.

2. Delivery of first ever after school squash sessions

We have been delighted to run our first ever after-school squash programme this Summer Term at King Edward VI School, Lichfield, supported by our #B2022 grant award via Sport England and Together Active.
