Leauges: game scores and new rules for new entrants

The current league period is now well underway and I hope that you are enjoying your matches and scheduling them evenly across the period.

Please note that MyCourts has recently introduced a new feature, enabling you to enter your actual games scores when entering your match results, if you wish. This is not compulsory and you can continue to just enter games to save you remembering games scores.

This feature is particularly useful for those of you who have linked their league results to Squash Levels. I remind you that both players need to have opted into linking their scores to Squash Levels for the scores to feed through and to have discussed it with their opponents.

In terms of new entrants to the leagues, following some feedback received from members, it has been decided to introduce some new rules to formally regulate the introduction of new players to the leagues. This includes provisions for challenge matches, to allow players to enter the leagues in a division most appropriate to their playing level, where appropriate.

Squash to become Olympic in 2028!

We were absolutely delighted that the International Olympic Committee ratified squash's inclusion to the Los Angeles Games 2028. We've campaigned for this, alongside many in the global squash community, since our foundation as a club in 2012.

We were equally pleased that local news website Lichfield Live reported on our delight in a recent article, which also mentioned the current range of new opportunities for people of all ages to come and try our wonderful sport, including Squash Stars and Junior Academy for children and Club Nights/coaching for adults.

Staffordshire Teams Leagues – Winter Season resumes

We are pleased to have again entered a team into the Staffordshire Squash Winter Teams League this 2023-24 season.

The League consists of 8 local teams and has become more competitive due to the level of play having generally increased.

We have also strengthened our squad due to new members having joined over recent months and despite 2 close losses in our opening matches, we hope to still compete well.

The British Open Squash returns to Birmingham

After a successful 2023 British Open at the Birmingham Rep Theatre, the best players in the world will once again do battle in the all glass court on the same stage in June this year.

If you are keen to go and see some live squash action, this tournament can be thoroughly recommended as several members attended last year and gave amazing feedback.
