Lichfield Squash Club News - November 2023, Part 1

When I sat down to plan the next newsletter, I realised that there is a huge array of things to report on in terms of developments within the club. For that reason, I have decided to break the newsletter down into a series of parts as otherwise it would be far too long and therefore less likely to be read!

So here is Part 1 , which will cover off-peak courts, forthcoming opportunities for people of all ages to come and try squash and events bookings.

Off-peak courts

As you all know, a cheaper rate for off-peak courts of £6.00 was re-introduced from mid-September on a further trial basis. This off-peak rate applies to the last courts on weekdays (at 20:50) and any Saturday afternoon courts (from 12:00pm).

Whilst there has been a recent slight uptick in demand for off-peak courts, it would be good to see further growth in the use of these courts, so that we can demonstrate to the school that it is worth continuing with the initiative.

Please do therefore consider off-peak courts as an option. They are particularly good for solo practice, coaching, group sessions or additional friendlies, as well as a means of lessening the burden on peak times.

If we do not prove there is sufficient demand, then the school is likely to withdraw the facility – USE IT OR LOSE IT.

Opportunities to try squash

We have various opportunities during November for people of all ages to pick up a racket and try our amazing sport, including:

Squash Stars , for juniors aged 5-9, starting Saturday 4th November
Junior Squash Academy , for juniors aged 10-16, starting Saturday 4th November
Club Nights for Adults on Tuesday evenings, with a specific Open Night organised for Tuesday 14th November.

Events booking, including Club Nights

Please note that from November, all of our events will be booked via the Events page on MyCourts, which is an additional module that we have added to our subscription.

This will include our popular Club Nights, which currently run on Mondays for intermediate to advanced players and Tuesdays for beginners/improvers. We have also reduced the cost per player to just £5.
